Based on the success of the original Pico, the Raspberry Pi Pico 2W features the new RP235x microcontroller chip designed by Raspberry Pi in the UK.
With faster ARM cores, increased clock speed, more SRAM, and flash memory, it also includes a new security architecture based on Arm TrustZone. This model offers improved performance while remaining fully compatible (hardware and software) with previous models in the Raspberry Pi Pico family.
The RP235x, created in the UK by Raspberry Pi, integrates 2 ARM Cortex-M33 computing cores running at 150MHz. It features 520 kB of SRAM and off-chip flash memory up to 4 MB.
The RP2350's unique dual-core and dual-architecture capability offers users the flexibility to choose between a pair of standard Arm Cortex-M33 cores and a pair of Open-Hardware cores. This versatility allows the processor to be adapted to the specific needs of each project, optimizing performance and development possibilities. The Pico 2 is programmable in C/C++ and MicroPython.
Another novelty is the robust and comprehensive security architecture, relying on Arm TrustZone technology for Cortex-M. Its features include signed boot, 8 kB of anti-fuse OTP for secure key storage, hardware acceleration for SHA-256 algorithms, a hardware random number generator (TRNG), and fast error detectors. This combination of technologies ensures advanced and reliable protection for your applications, guaranteeing a high level of security by design.
