A full-featured motor shield designed to power simple to medium-complexity projects using DC motors, stepper motors, and servos with an Arduino.

Quantity

This Arduino-compatible motor shield based on the L293D chipset allows you to control various types of motors and actuators. It provides a complete solution for driving DC motors, stepper motors, and servos.

Specifications

  • Drive up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (approximately 0.5% resolution).
  • Drive up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil, interleaved, or micro-stepping modes.
  • Connections for two 5V 'hobby' servos linked to Arduino's high-resolution dedicated timer to prevent jitter.
  • 4 H-Bridges: the L293D chipset provides 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, operating from 4.5V to 12V.
  • Pull-down resistors keep motors disabled during power-up for safety.
  • Large terminal block connectors for easy wiring (10-22 AWG) and power connections.
  • 2-pin terminal block for external power connection, enabling separate logic and motor supplies.
  • Arduino reset button accessible on the top edge.
  • Dimensions (assembled): 69mm x 53mm x 14.3mm.

Tested compatible with Arduino Mega, Diecimila, and Duemilanove boards.
