The EARTH unit from M5Stack is a Grove-compatible soil moisture sensor designed for measuring moisture in soil and similar porous materials. It provides an analog output (SIG) for precise ADC reading, as well as a digital output (DO) with an adjustable threshold for simple on/off applications.
The sensing principle relies on two large exposed pads that act as conductive probes. Higher soil moisture improves conductivity between the probes, altering the resistance and output signal. An integrated potentiometer allows adjustment of the digital trigger threshold.
