GY-521 MPU-6050 3-Axis Gyroscope and Accelerometer
Using sensors GY-521 MPU-6050 3-Axis Gyroscope and Accelerometer
The compact GY-521 module is based on the MPU-6050 NEMS chip and combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer with a digital motion processor (DMP) and a temperature sensor. The sensor data is read via the I²C bus, which is why you only need 2 wires (SCL and SDA). Through pin AD0 you can set the I²C address (Low = 0 x 68, High = 0 x 69). The chip has a 1024 byte FIFO buffer, which can be read for example via a microcontroller. A Sub-I²C bus allows you to connect other I²C sensors, for example to determine atmospheric pressure, cardinal direction, etc. With integrated Digital Motion Processor (DMP) technology, complex calculations can be performed inside the chip to relieve the burden on the microcontroller.
