5mm 5800B CdS Photoresistor (LDR). Its resistance drops under light (<2.4kΩ). Ideal for ambient light detection and creating automatic switches.

Quantity

The 5800B is a Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) photoresistor, also known as a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), housed in a standard 5mm axial package. Its electrical resistance decreases significantly when exposed to light, making it an excellent passive component for ambient light detection in electronics projects.

This sensor is commonly used in automatic lighting control circuits, burglar alarms, camera light meters, and night lights. It typically requires a voltage divider circuit and an analog input (such as on an Arduino or Raspberry Pi Pico) to convert resistance changes into readable digital values.
