The 3G shield is based on the SIM5216E module, a Multi-Band HSDPA/WCDMA/GSM/GPRS/EDGE solution supporting downlink speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. It enables 3G communication controlled via standard AT commands and is fully compatible with Arduino boards. Includes MIC and earphone interfaces.
The iTead 3G Shield is an Arduino extension board providing WCDMA/GSM mobile network connectivity. Based on the SIMCOM SIM5216E module (compatible with variants A and J), it supports HSDPA data rates up to 3.6 Mbps and enables SMS messaging and voice calls via its built-in microphone and earphone interfaces.
The module is controlled using standard AT commands over the UART serial port. A coin cell battery and supercapacitor maintain the Real-Time Clock (RTC) functionality when power is removed. The power supply circuit has been optimized to ensure stable operation of the 3G modem.
