RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield, or RAMPS for short. Designed to fit the entire electronics needed for a RepRap in one small, low-cost package. RAMPS interfaces an Arduino Mega with the powerful Arduino MEGA platform and has plenty of room for expansion. The modular design includes plug-in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics on an Arduino MEGA shield for easy service, part replacement, upgrade-ability, and expansion. Additionally, a number of Arduino expansion boards can be added to the system as long as the main RAMPS board is kept to the top of the stack.

Quantity

The RAMPS 1.5 (RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield) is an expansion board designed for the Arduino Mega. It serves as the main controller interface for 3D printers, managing stepper motors, heated beds, and cooling fans.

Version 1.5 features surface-mount components for improved durability. It accommodates up to five stepper motor driver modules (such as A4988 or DRV8825) and uses standard servo-style connectors for endstops and sensors, simplifying wiring and assembly.

Specifications

  • Compatible with Arduino Mega 2560 and Mega ADK.
  • 5 slots for stepper motor drivers (pin header sockets).
  • 3 MOSFETs for fan and heated bed control.
  • Safety fuses: 5A PTC for logic/motors, 11A PTC for the heated bed.
  • 5 thermistor inputs and connectors for endstops.
  • I2C and SPI pins available for expansion.
  • USB Type-B connector for programming.
  • Stackable design allows addition of LCD screens or other shields.

Technical Notes

This board is designed for 12V systems. While it can tolerate up to 15-16V without modification, running at 24V requires caution (check capacitor ratings and driver specs). For printers with a heated bed, a 12V power supply capable of delivering at least 16A is recommended.
