This breakout module is based on the ams OSRAM AS3935 digital lightning sensor IC. It is designed to detect lightning strikes, calculate the distance to the nearest storm, and filter out electromagnetic interference (NF rejection) to ensure accurate readings.
The board includes a specifically tuned inductor acting as an antenna, significantly simplifying development compared to using the bare IC. It communicates via standard I2C or SPI interfaces and operates on a power supply voltage between 2.4 V and 5.5 V, making it compatible with most microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, etc.).
